When you download multiple files at once, the file manager will automatically compress those files into a single compressed (also know as “zipped”) file before downloading. You can also create your own compressed files on the server.
Because compressed files end up smaller than the total size of individual files, it can be more convenient (and quicker!) to upload a single zipped file and then extract it.
ExaVault file manager allows you to compress file(s) and folder(s) on your server into a single compressed file!
To create a compressed file:
1. Click the checkbox next to the items you want to include in the file.
2. Select COMPRESS.
3. If you want, enter a different name for the compressed file.
4. Click the OK button.
Your compressed file will be created in your current folder.
When you're selecting the files to be compressed, you click the link at the bottom of the page that selects all files in the current folder for compression.
The web interface also allows you to uncompress file(s) and folder(s) from a zipped file on your server. While there are several types of compressed files, only .zip files can be extracted on the server.
To extract a zipped file:
1. Click the actions drop-down menu next to the compressed file you want to extract.
2. Select Extract.
3. Select the destination folder for your extracted files.
4. Click the OK button.
You can create a new destination folder by clicking the NEW FOLDER button and entering a new folder.
