You can connect to your ExaVault account with any modern FTP or SFTP client. You just need a few details to connect:
For example:
The hostname, username and password can be obtained from the sidebar in your account, or from your account administrator.
Once you've entered these details, then you should be able to click a Connect button. If you see files and folders appear, then you are connected!
Transferring files is also easy with a desktop FTP client. Generally speaking, you will see files in two panes:
To upload files:
1. Select the file(s) on your computer that you want to copy to the server
2. Drag and drop them from the 'Your Computer' pane to the 'Server' pane or use the Upload option. The upload option be a right arrow on the screen or an option on the right-click menu for the files.
To download files:
1. Select the file(s) on the server that you want to copy to your computer.
2. Drag and drop them from the 'Server' pane to the 'Your Computer' pane or use the Download option. The download option may be an arrow pointing left or an option on the right-click menu for the files.
You can use the same FTP client application to make SFTP connections to your account. With SFTP, the connection is encrypted and the file transfer process is more secure. To make a connection an SFTP connection, change the appropriate connection setting in your client software. Note that most, but not all, FTP client software supports SFTP.
Anonymous login is a way to allow people to log in to an FTP server with the username of “anonymous” and their email address as a password.
ExaVault accounts do not support anonymous logins. We do support a number of access restrictions (upload-only accounts, download-only accounts, etc.) but all users must have a valid username and password to log in.
