We provide a number of ways to connect to your ExaVault account to upload and download files.
If you prefer desktop software or have an existing workflow that requires FTP or SFTP, you may want to use a desktop FTP client. We have FTP client tutorials available for all popular software.
But the easiest option is to use our web-based file manager. Read on for details on how to use it.
To upload or download files, you must first log in to your account.
1. Browse to the file manager at the address you were provided. It will be in the format (https://accountname.exavault.com) where accountname is the account you are accessing.
2. Enter your username and password.
3. Click the LOG IN button.
When you first log in, you'll see the File Manager page. This is a view of the files and folders on your account.
Folder management in ExaVault file manager is a snap:
Once you have files and folders uploaded to your account, you can click the blue dropdown button to quickly view information and available actions for a specific file or folder.
Actions on files and folders will reflect the current permissions of the account you are using. Examples of actions may include:
There are five ways to sort items in the file manager. Most of the sorting options may be sorted in an ascending sort (0-9;A-Z) or in a descending sort (Z-A;9-0).
To change the current sorting option, click the VIEW button.
The timeline sort is the default sort option. A timeline sort is similar to a date sort, except that the dates are grouped. The idea is that you can see the most recently changed files grouped together, followed by older files, and so on. Within each group, files are then sorted alphabetically. For example:
1. Files that were uploaded today.
2. Files that were uploaded this week.
3. Files that were uploaded this month.
4. Files that were uploaded more than one month ago.
Sorting by name is a classic alphabetic sort.
Sorting by date is a classic date/time sort. Files and folders will be sorted by their “last modified” date and time. For example:
An ascending date sort would sort files with the oldest files first:
Name
Last Modified Datetime

A descending date sort would sort files and folders with the newest items first:

Sorting by size will sort files based upon their file size. Currently, folder sizes are not sortable, so folders will be grouped together and sorted alphabetically.
Sorting by type will sort files based upon their file extension.
View as List is the default view option. But you can switch to View as Gallery and get all your files and folders in the File Manager as the gallery.
You can search your entire account for files with specific names, or parts of names. At the top of the screen, there is a Search box. To search, simply type what you're looking for, such as txt to find all files whose names contain “txt”, and then press Enter. Also, you can limit the search up to the opened folder, checking out the box next to Limit To This Folder.
After you press Enter, all of the matching files and folders will be displayed in the file manager area. You can interact with the matched search entries just like you normally do – click on a file to download or click on a folder to open it. Search results can be sorted just like normal file listings. To exit the search results, click the clear results link that appears next to the words Search results for.
At the bottom of the file list, you'll see a pulldown menu with a series of number buttons. These control the number of folders and files that you'll see on a page.
If you have a folder with lots of files, the file list may spill onto different pages. To view different pages, simply click the page number links at the bottom of the file list.
There is a limit of one hundred thousand (100000) files and/or folders that can be stored inside a single folder.
If you are performing very large uploads or if your folder is near the limit, new uploads will not be able to complete once the total reaches 100,000 files and/or folders. Consider breaking your files into sub-folders to prevent this issue.
When performing large uploads through the web browser, there are several limitations to consider. See the Uploading Limitations section of our Uploading document for more information.
